Profhilo has become one of the most talked-about injectable treatments in aesthetic dermatology over the past few years — and for good reason. It does something genuinely different from fillers and toxins, and it does it well. But the marketing around it has also generated a fair amount of confusion about what it actually is, how it works, and who it is suitable for. This is the clinical picture.
What Profhilo Actually Is
Profhilo is a bio-remodelling injectable — not a filler. This distinction matters. It contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid of any injectable product available (64mg in 2ml), but it is formulated without the cross-linking agents used in conventional fillers. This means it does not add structural volume or change facial contours. Instead, it spreads through the tissue, stimulating the skin’s own collagen and elastin production while simultaneously providing deep hydration.
The result is not a volume change — it is a quality change. Profhilo improves skin laxity, texture, hydration, and luminosity. It makes the skin look and feel healthier, more elastic, and more youthful — without altering the shape of the face.
How the Treatment Works
Profhilo is injected at five specific points on each side of the face — a total of ten injection points — using what is called the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique. These points are strategically chosen to allow the product to flow and distribute evenly through the facial tissue, covering the cheeks, jawline, and perioral area comprehensively from just ten injections. This is one of its most clinically elegant features: broad coverage with minimal injection points.
The standard protocol is two sessions, four weeks apart. Most patients begin to see results after the first session, with the full effect visible approximately four weeks after the second. A maintenance session every 6 months is typically recommended to sustain the results.
Who It Is For
Profhilo is particularly well-suited to patients in their late 30s to 50s who are beginning to notice skin laxity — a loss of firmness and elasticity — without significant volume loss. It addresses the quality of the skin itself rather than the architecture of the face, which makes it an excellent standalone treatment for early ageing or an excellent complement to fillers and toxins for more advanced concerns.
It is also one of our first recommendations for patients who want to start an injectable maintenance programme but are not ready for fillers — it produces visible, natural improvement with a very favourable safety profile and minimal downtime. Small injection-site bumps resolve within 24 hours for most patients.
Profhilo is not appropriate for patients seeking volume restoration, contour enhancement, or wrinkle relaxation — those require different tools. But for improving the overall quality, firmness, and radiance of the skin, it is one of the most effective injectables available.
The Indian Skin Context
In our Hyderabad practice, we find Profhilo particularly effective for patients dealing with the combined effects of UV exposure, pollution, and humidity on skin quality — factors that accelerate the loss of dermal hydration and elasticity more rapidly in tropical climates. The improvement in skin texture and the reduction in fine surface lines are often the most immediately appreciated outcomes.
It is also an excellent treatment for the neck and décolletage — areas frequently neglected in standard skincare and filler protocols but significantly affected by photoageing in Indian patients who spend time outdoors.
Is It Worth It
For the right patient, yes — unequivocally. Profhilo produces a genuine improvement in skin quality that is visible to others and meaningful to the patient. It is not a dramatic transformation, and it is not designed to be. It is a refinement — a restoration of skin health and vitality that makes everything else look better, including makeup, other treatments, and the face at rest.
If you are considering Profhilo and want to understand whether it is the right treatment for your skin at this stage, a consultation will give you a clear answer.
