How It Works

The platysma muscle runs from the chest up the neck and attaches to the lower face. With age, the platysma develops vertical banding — visible cords in the neck — and its downward pull contributes to jowling and the softening of the jawline. By injecting small amounts of botulinum toxin along the lower jawline and into the platysmal bands, we relax the downward pull of this muscle, allowing the upward-pulling muscles of the face to work unopposed. The result is a subtle but visible sharpening of the jawline, reduction of platysmal bands, and a more defined neck-jaw transition.

Who It Is For

The Nefertiti lift is most effective for patients in their 30s to 50s who have early to moderate platysmal banding and beginning jowl formation. It is not a substitute for significant surgical correction in patients with marked skin laxity and significant jowling — those patients require a structural intervention. But for patients who want to maintain and refine their lower face definition, particularly those who have already had jawline filler and want to optimise the result, the Nefertiti lift is an excellent complementary procedure.
